The 84th Anniversary Royal Thai Navy Shipyard Museum Royal Thai Naval Dockyard Museum, Commemorating the 84th Birthday of King Rama IX has been in operation since 2011. The museum displays exhibits inside a 135-year-old building in a "gingerbread" architectural style, showing the history and ship repair and construction work of the Royal Thai Naval Dockyard Department from the past to the present. Along with the demonstration of the genius of "Naval Architecture" of King Rama IX and because it is an area that has been an important strategic point since the past, continuing into the Thonburi and Rattanakosin periods, which used to be the "former residence" of King Rama I and was adapted to be a "Royal Dockyard" during the reign of King Rama V, which marked the beginning of the industrial era in the 19th century. The educational tour route includes the museum building, the Church of Wat Wongsamul Wihan (ancient site), the ship repair yard, the boiler (Lancashire boiler, 1844), and the original wall of the palace of Somdet Chao Phraya Maha Kasatsuek. (King Rama I, before he became the King) and the ship repair and construction factory that still has machinery from the steam-powered era. The Thonburi Naval Dockyard is responsible for the maintenance of royal barges (including the construction of replacements or new ones).
