San Kamphaeng Hot Springs is a natural geothermal spring traditionally used by local residents to boil forest-harvested vegetables and treat skin ailments. The spring is classified as a geyser, formed when underground water is heated by high-temperature magma and forced upward through fractures in the rock. The height of the water eruption depends on the temperature of the water. At San Kamphaeng, the underground water reaches a temperature of 105°C, causing the geyser to shoot up more than 10 meters into the air.
