Khao Kheow Open Zoo is a hub for learning, conservation, and wildlife research. This eco-friendly tourist spot is located in a natural environment and serves as a sanctuary for various wildlife species. As one of Chonburi province's top tourist destinations, the zoo spans over 1,942 acres and provides a serene atmosphere. It houses over 2,000 animals from more than 200 species.   Recognized as a model for lifelong learning in the zoological park category, Khao Kheow Open Zoo is a member of the World Association of Zoos and Aquariums (WAZA). It operates under the ISO 9001:2015 quality management system and is certified for environmental management standards according to ISO 14001:2015. Khao Kheow Open Zoo offers diverse wildlife exhibits. Visitors can engage in educational activities about wildlife behavior and biology, aligned with animal welfare principles. Some of the popular activities include the Penguin Parade, Elephant Swimming, feeding Capybaras, and feeding Ring-tailed Lemurs on a natural island. Visitors can enjoy the charm of various animals throughout the different exhibits. Currently, the zoo is home to several notable animals, including iconic animals and soft power of Thailand like "Moo Deng," the Pygmy Hippopotamus; "Mae-Mali," the longest-living hippopotamus in Thailand; and Khun Flash, the Two-toed Sloth. These animals are beloved attractions. Additionally, the zoo offers educational programs, with over 100,000 students participating annually. The Khao Kheow Night Zoo offers an unforgettable nighttime wildlife experience. The zoo is dedicated to wildlife conservation and research, successfully breeding and reintroducing endangered species into the wild, such as the Asian Woolly-necked Stork and the Great Hornbill. Moreover, the zoo offers various recreational and leisure activities, such as health-themed zoo running, accommodations for tourists, and camping areas. It has also been registered as a Dark Sky Preserve Area in Thailand for 2024, making it an ideal location for stargazing. Additionally, the zoo has received numerous awards, including the Universal Design Tourism award at the 8th "Tourism for All" event and the "Best Tourist Attraction of the Year 2024" at the Thailand Top Vote 2024 event.
