Sireeruckhachati Nature Learning Park or “Sireepark” is a botanic garden (140 rais) that conserves more than 930 species of living medicinal plants, collected from all over the country of Thailand. It is regarded as a museum of the largest collection of medicinal plant species in Thailand. Since FY-2022, Sireepark is under the auspices of the Project of Institute Establishment for Sireeruckhachati Nature Learning Park (SR) at Mahidol University (MU), managed by the SR Executive Committee led by the Director under the MU Regulations and governed by the SR Policy Board chaired by the MU President. During FYs 2022-present, SR has been restructured and transformed radically in many areas of its operation, which includes: redesigning business model, improving asset utilization and management, revitalizing the garden and landscape in accordance with academic research and organic farming, restoring its ecosystem (also rebranding its operation) to be an inspiring model for sustainability-related tourist attractions, establishing the SR Reference Center for Medicinal Plants and Crude Drugs (systemically linking a tissue culture lab, plants nursery, herbarium, and a 140-rai botanic garden together), and building a meaningful network of partnerships with the aim of pooling and sharing resources and specialized competencies. SR aspires to become a formal institute of MU by FY-2028 following the MU Council’s directive, with the mission of “promoting the well-being of all life through multidisciplinary partnerships in research, education and academic services in the areas of medicinal plants and sustainability”. To achieve this institute-wide mission, Sireepark (as the SR botanic garden) strives towards the conservation of medical plants and biodiversity, and the promotion of societal well-being and sustainable development.
